Basin Management Objectives (BMO) Report Cards Printer-Friendly Version

Basin Management Objectives (BMO) are quantitative performance metrics used to determine whether or not the Agency's basin management plan goals are being met.  The BMOs consist of groundwater levels or water quality measurements (concentrations) defined at specific locations.  Currently the Agency has 52 BMOs designed to address the varying water quality concerns in the groundwater basins within the Agency, including:

  • Saline intrusion in coastal areas of the Oxnard Plain Basin;
  • Migration of saline water from surrounding geologic formations in the Pleasant Valley Basin;
  • Nitrate impact to potable beneficial groundwater uses in the Oxnard Plain Forebay;
  • Chloride impact to agricultural beneficial groundwater uses in Las Posas Basins; and
  • Elevated nitrate and chloride in the Arroyo Santa Rosa Basins.

The BMO Report Cards provide a quick tool for interested parties to check progress toward meeting the Agency's basin management goals.
